Opening with a classic feel in its drum pattern, ‘You & I’ catches the attention of the listener with its jazzy keyboard chords. Echoing vocal shouts persist throughout, while the bold harmonic changes create small but powerful moments in this otherwise minimalist inspired piece. Dubeats are a Boston-based duo, who cite funk and soul as major influences on their house output, and the addition of syncopated flutes halfway through only support that influence. This latest release is taken from their final EP of the year Unreliable, and includes remixes from Electronic Youth and Nik Thrine. -Dan Peeke
